Choosing a Childcare or Preschool

15 Jun 2022

Some of the questions you could be asking yourself include:

  • Should I choose a local centre? Or should I take my child further away as I have heard of an inclusive centre?
  • Will my child benefit from being in a long day care or preschool setting?
  • Will there be any support for my child?
  • What sorts of things could my child learn from being in a local centre?

Lou Ambrosy sat down with Sam Webster. Sam is a preschool teacher who has taught internationally, and she is doing research on the benefits of children being included in mainstream services.

For some practical tips on things to think about when choosing a childcare service or preschool, the Association for Children with a Disability (ACD) has great information. ACD is a parent run group that provides free information, phone support and workshops to all parents who have a child with a disability or developmental delay.
