A Dungeons & Dragons® Based Tabletop Role Playing Group
Are you excited by the thought of playing a collaborative storytelling game in a world of high fantasy? A world where you could be an elven wizard or a dwarven barbarian! Come and join us to find out, whilst making friends and learning new skills.
About this Activity
An Occupational Therapist-designed, therapeutically applied Dungeons & Dragons® group. Facilitated by an experienced player to support your child on their Dungeons & Dragons® journey, building skills around regulation, collaboration, planning, perspective, pretend play with like-minded friends and following the structure of the adventure.
Parent involvement
Parents can sign their child into the group, stay within the vicinity of the group, and rejoin the group 15 minutes before the finish time.
To get the most out of this group you need to...
- Have an interest in Dungeons & Dragons® or other role-playing games
- Be able to engage in small, facilitated groups in a customised and collaborative gaming experience.
Outcomes:
- Increased confidence and skills in social interactions, communication and teamwork
- Increased skills in turn taking, following instructions and staying on task
- Developing and expanding on cognitive skills, regulation, collaboration, planning and perspective.
What does the program include?
3-Day Intensive
- 1 hr Individual Assessment
- 3 Group Sessions of 2 hrs each
- 3.5 Preparation/Reporting hours (non face-to-face)
Total Cost of the program: $1262 (plus travel for individual assessment)
6-week Group
- 1 hr Individual Assessment
- School term program - 6 Group Sessions - 1.5 hrs each, 1 per week for 6 weeks
- 5 Preparation/Reporting hours (non face-to-face)
Total Cost of the program: $1751 (plus travel for individual assessment)
Locations
The program will be running in Term 4 in the following areas:
- Canberra: 6 week program running Mondays, 23 October to 27 November from 3:45 - 5:15pm
- Canberra: 6 week program running Tuesdays, 24 October to 28 November from 3:45 - 5:15pm
